The Blair Witch Project:
The trailer stats off with a female character crying, and then we hear diegetic sound of a laugh that sounds monstrous. This creates an eerie sense throughout the trailer because the audience would constantly be thinking what is going to happen and if they made it out. The usage of sounds building up from quiet to loud is a good effect because it would keep the audience intrigued wondering what is going to happen next. |

You're Next: This trailer starts with non-diegetic sound, shortly after a soundtrack begins and we start to hear crashes and thuds in the background. We then hear some screams which makes the audience aware that someone is in danger. There are more sounds added in afterwards such as smashing glass and footsteps. Towards the end of the trailer the music and sound effects come together making the trailer have a hectic as well as suspicious atmosphere. |
Friday The 13th:
The start to the trailer is slow and steady, creating a calm sense as there is a voiceover. We then see the forest through an establishing shot which adds emphasis to the scenery that the trailer is taking place in. As the teenagers are laughing with each other, there is some diegetic sound of music also playing, as the trailer goes into its disequilibrium the music stops and goes into a different score. Overall in terms of sound this trailer used various ways to export their sound in this trailer having the audience intrigued. |

Texas Chainsaw 3D:
The equilibrium starts off calm as non diegetic sound is used, as music comes in it is very calm are peaceful making the audience feel relaxed. Shortly after narrative sound is added, and as the trailer goes on we hear doors opening and creaking which creates an eerie mood. As a caption is shown there's silence in the trailer and then we hear a chainsaw, this would make the audience be more alert and they would start to question what is happening. As the soundtrack develops in the trailer we can hear some repetitive sounds such as thuds which makes the atmosphere tense. Towards the end of the trailer there is silence again, leaving the audience in suspense of what happens in the film. |
Garage Band:
We decided to use garage band because it is something we are all familiar with and it will enable us to create, drag and drop various sounds to where we would prefer them to be in order to make our trailer more accurate. this would also help us to plan our trailer and which specific shots would go with the sound. In the screenshot to the left we have put various sounds together all following each other so that there is continuous sound flowing through our trailer. This would help add emphasis to our trailer because sound plays an important part in keeping the audience intrigued and drawn in. Adobe Premiere Pro:
This is the main software we decided to use, this is due to the fact that when we are adding sound to our trailer, we are also able to have the actual trailer up next to the sounds we are editing so we could test it out to see if the sounds are in sync with the shots. In the screenshot to the left we have selected a few different sounds we are going to edit e.g.. loop them, cut them or change the pitching so that it can fit our trailer more. Also by using Adobe as our main sound editor we are able to look at the sound clips in more detail and get an accurate position where we wish to edit it, with certain tools eg. pen tool to annotate. |
Here is a list of sound effects we chose from to put into our trailer. These sounds helped us to decide the pace of our trailer, and where we would like to build up the scenes e.g. when someone is walking in the hallway we would use one of the sounds that are in the “Clanks” folder to add emphasis. |

Drones:
The use of a drone could be significant at the start or ending of our trailer, seeing as it is a quiet yet noticeable sound that slowly starts to fade away towards the end, it is a type of sound that can be used as build up to the main aspect of our trailer, or towards the ending where it shows the credits in order to create an eerie type of feeling. |
Voices:
The two voice samples we have would particularly help the story to become more realistic. By using the “I'm gonna find you” voice for example when Yuri is following her bullies, this would create suspense because the audience would want to know if she actually found them and what happened to them. Also by using the “Remember” voice which is quiet, it will appear as if the bullies can hear Yuri / Mei in their minds as they try to hide. |

Heartbeat:
The heartbeat sound is very effective and could be used in various parts of our trailer. For example when we are doing cuts between scenes (such as showing a close up NVC of one of the bullies and Yuri coming towards them) the heartbeat sound will be useful because it is almost as if the audience is there and they would feel what the bullies are going through as they try to hide. |
Screaming:
The screaming sound we have can emphasise how the bullies are feeling, as you can hear in this sound there are a group of people screaming on top of each other, this could be used in our trailer at times when all the bullies are together and Yuri is coming after them before they all go their separate ways trying to avoid her. By using screams it helps the audience know how the characters are feeling throughout the film. |

Echo:
The echo swish sound we have does not completely sound like it could be used in the main parts of our trailer due to it being so quick and sudden so this could perhaps be used when showing the credits of our film or at the beginning of our trailer when everything starts off as a calm normal day. However one aspect of our trailer where it could be used is when Yuri is attacking the bullies and she swings something at them. |
Glass:
We particularly liked the sound of the glass smashing on the floor because it creates an eerie sense that something is going to happen. We pictured using this sound when the bullies are all together and Yuri is approaching them as she's starting to attack and kill them off one by one, so as she is walking along the glass smashing sound effect would be used to portray her coming closer to them, and other sounds will also come in around the same time eg. the voices. |

Breathing:
The breathing sounds we have would mainly be used when we have close ups of our characters to portray their NVC. For example when Mei is taking over Yuri, the breathing could be used to show that the transition is happening as Yuri tries to fight her off but isn't able to, so she starts hyperventilating and her breathing picks up. On the other hand the breathing sounds could also be used when one of the bullies are hiding from Yuri, to make the audience hear how their breathing is picking up as Yuri gets closer. |
SFX: There are some particular special sound effects we liked out of the ones we found, for example the “Thick Build Up” sound effect could be used towards the start of the trailer when the bullies are all walking up to Mei and they start to bully her. Also, the use of the “Dark Swish”which fades away could be used in between cuts in our trailer so perhaps build up tension at it goes along. The other two sound effects we have could be used when Mei is taking over Yuri, so add emphasis of how the transition is happening in the trailer, causing the audience to not being able to take their eyes off the screen. |
